Support for schools

What support will Inspiration TSH offer as an Appropriate Body?

Beyond the training offer, we will also support you in a wide variety of ways. We will complete fidelity checks to ensure that you have everything you need in place to support your ECTs and meet the statutory guidance. We offer a supportive Quality Assurance visit to every school that has ECTs within a two year window. If an ECT isn’t making sufficient progress to meet the Teacher Standards during induction, we will provide independent advice and support for the school and the ECT. On top of all of this, your school will have a direct email and telephone line to contact us with any enquiries.

What will a Quality Assurance visit look like?

We will conduct a QA visit of each school over the course of a standard induction (two years). Schools will be given reasonable notice of these visits. The core purpose of these visits are to ensure statutory entitlements are being met and to support schools with any recommendations to further improve the quality of provision for ECTs. The outline of these visits can be found in the ‘resources’ section on ECT Manager. QA visits may be triggered if a new Induction Tutor or principal is appointed; if there are concerns about the quality of provision or reports or if concerns are shared by ECTs or mentors.

Will our school be inspected by an Appropriate Body?

No, Appropriate Bodies are not inspectors of schools. We are a supportive organisation which ensures that you are meeting the requirements of the ECF. This is carried out through fidelity checks and Quality Assurance (QA) visits. If we felt that a school was not meeting the minimum requirements, we would make recommendations and work with the school to ensure ECTs the correct level of support.

Will we receive training from an Appropriate body if we are new to the ECT programme?

Yes! Inspiration TSH offers a suite of training to schools who use us as their Appropriate Body. This includes induction tutor training and support for writing progress reviews and assessments. A full menu of training will be shared in due course.
